Has anybody done any testing on how much difference putting proper grammar helps when writing your copy for adwords, the amount of characters your allowed makes using commas and apostrophes expensive but is it worth it

Also have you noticed how badly written some of those ads are becoming, i saw one the other day where it had the headline then repeated it in the 1st desc line and then not even bothered to to put anything in the 2nd desc line, also it appeared they were bidding on single keywords and extremely expensive ones, the ad was for a large brand name company who probably had lots of money to waste, but i just looked at it and thought excellent I'll have your customers this christmas then

I read somewhere that using blank space on your advert can help CTR by making your ad stand out more against the competition due to the extra white space.

I just really hope there's no research that says that poor grammar has been proven to increase click through rates, because I just couldn't bring myself to do it! I'm a real stickler for spelling and grammar (I'm actually bordering on obsession with the English language!) so it would kill me to deliberately use incorrect grammar.

I don´t think that poor grammar will help CTR. Anyway, I think it´s worth not making assumptions about what the users like, and write a good number of different creatives for each AdGroup, allowing the users to decide which one is more appealing. I have obviously never tried to make grammar errors, but sometimes it´s suprising to see what creatives the users find more attractive.

I think it's all about standing out. There's loads of plain boring text ads, all in the same colours, so you need something that catches their eye. Unfortunately, 'FREE SEX' is a violation of Google's rules

 I'm sure your CTR would by very high. Not that sure about your conversion rate.

The other benefit of this is that you can use the main keyphrase you are sponsoring in the headline or 1st line of the text. This will improve your quality score, which might mean you'll pay less for each click... which is always nice

Google themselves have a keywords generator for adwords but it seems to be the case that the secret lies in finding the vacuum, which is relevant nevertheless. The alternative is to pay as much or more than the next one in order to become prominent. Also I understand that a heavy volume of hits on adwords does not qualify for improved organic rankings.

This is a way of improving quality score, if the page you are linking to is not as strong as it could be for a given keyword/term, it can help to use it in both the header and body of the advert.
