Hi everybody!

I'm planning to advertise my B2B site on a radio. Does anybody have any experience on this? Any feedback or advice?

Thank you in advance!

I would just say it's a great way to create awareness about your B2B site. Cheers

It's good for creating awareness if it's done in the right way. However, how can you be sure that you'll be targeting the right people? For B2B, what percentage of listeners will be business people? And how many of those will be the decision maker who you can help? My thinking would be that any senior management would be far too busy to be listening to the radio. Direct mailing would be a far better, more targeted method.

I'm agreeing with Mac there. Like newspaper ads, it's kind've a scattergun approach.. you'll get loads of people to hear it, but are they the right people? There's no point paying to reach people if they're unlikely to actually buy your service.

Just realised I've used newspapers as an example there.. they CAN be effective if its a trade paper or magazine related to the b2b service you're supplying, but generally a newspaper ad is only effective if you're targetting a really wide demographic.

Yes guys! You are right. Direct Mail marketing is the one I’m gonna use in the first place. Radio is the one for creating awareness. Some years ago my friend told me about Google… Since then, I use Google. But he could found out about Google from mass media. Therefore, I guess, global awareness could bring some prospective clients. The main goal is to choose the right time for advertising. It could be the lunch time, when office workers having lunch and it’s allowed to listen to the radio. Or they could listen to the radio while driving to the nearest coffee shop…
What do you think about it?

I think it depends on the cost. How much are you going to pay, and how much business will it bring in? Be realistic about it.

Unless it is a target show i.e. fishing etc and that is your target market I would be amazed if it gave a good ROI. Yes lots of people will hear it but how many will be interested and how many will buy?

Some years ago a company I was involved with ran a series of radio ads for a stationery range. Frankly the results were very disappointing - and this was before the age of google.

I can imagine so. To be honest, there's not a lot left worth advertising on the radio. Things like local car garages having clearance sales tend to work well. Same for local furniture stores etc. Events tend to work well, but general business adverts have a rather slow uptake.
