Hi,

I am currently working on some disaster recovery / business continuity work within my organisation.

I was wondering if anybody had looked at this issue yet, found any useful resources e.t.c.

Alternativly if anybody else is looking at this I am happy to discuss what we are currently doing.

Thanks

Rob

Rob I have joined this community to get help with my BC/DR project. I was wondering if you could summarise some of the activities you have so far undertaken towards your goal.

Thanks

Asterix,

So far we have:

Looked at what we mean by DR and BC and who in the organisation might be responsible.

Identified any threats to the organisation using information from a range of sources.

Split the threats into a different sections. Each section corresponds to what we call a governance group. Governance groups include staff, managers and trustees so its a good cross section of the organisation.

Each Governance group then has identifed any exisiting controls in place for threats and what needs to be done.

Most of the BC has been covered off in exisiting documents e.g. SORP and strategic and business plans.

The DR needs pulling together a little more. The idea is that each Governance Group has a nominated person. These then form the DR team.

In addition there are IT specific issues such as backup (see my backup post in this topic).

We are also looking at reciprical arrangments with other local charities and I have an unwritten agreement from an IT supplier to provide a number of machines for a 3 month period on loan in the event of a disaster.

I hope this helps, if there is anything else I can do to help just ask.

Thanks

Rob

You tease

If I had said that, my system would have gone down in the mean time and I would have lost it.

;) One tries! Leave it with me, or nudge me if I forget, which I'm likely to do so!
